Summary

Apply an empowerment perspective to the social work profession
Using a discipline-based, empowerment-oriented approach, Social Work: An Empowering Profession introduces students to the social work profession with a holistic, integrated view of the field so that they gain a solid understanding of the “who, what, and why” of social work. Aligned to the 2015 CSWE competencies, the text helps students apply what they’ve learned with practice applications, case examples, and Voices from the Field vignettes that provide perspective on various fields of social work practice.

The 9th Edition offers an increased emphasis on diversity and difference, new content on issues and services for youths, major revisions to the disabilities and substance abuse disorders sections, and expanded content on a number of topics, including evidence-based practice, human rights, and social justice.
